An individual's unconditional love for his country's people.

Africa is an incredible continent with a diverse population of wildlife species. I'm Emmanuel Katto, also known as Emka Uganda and Emmanuel Katto Uganda in the public eye. I work as a local Ugandan journalist.

I used to keep tabs on events in my continent, and in this post I'll share with you one recent occurrence that shows a person's altruistic devotion for his country.

Souleymane Sana moved to the US from the West African country Mali and he worked there as a dance instructor in order to preserve his culture, the traditional Malian music, and dance. While on his way to a convenience store in New Bern, he bought a North Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off ticket which won him $100,000 that has been reduced to $71,259 after state and federal taxes, as per the report.

When questioned if he would use this enormous sum for his own purposes, he said, "What will he do with it?" According to the report, he made the decision to use this sum for the benefit of the kids in Mali. In his own words, "Now that I'm in a position to help the children in my hometown, this is the only reason I bought this ticket," he made this decision public even on his Twitter account under the handle "NC Education Lottery."

The welfare of children in Mali, a nation in West Africa, was the focus of this man's very good intentions. Since he is a Mali native, this shows his leadership perspective in improving the lives of the kids for their long-term development.

He is planning to set up a dance school in Mali and wants to teach children out there. According to him, his hope to serve the children of Mali is been lit up by this lottery. He even spoke on the problems faced by the children in Mali with regard to time travel for schools and the absence of basic facilities.

Just like the problem of schools in Mali, there are many problems in other countries as well, just for instance in Uganda there is an absence of quality education in the schools which lacks skilled teachers resulting in higher drop outs rates and many more issues in different sectors of the economy.

People like Souleymane Sana are often boon for their country who themselves come at the front in order to make a difference. Such works must be carried out by the government with other bodies via a collaborative approach in order to create a healthy atmosphere for its people.
