THE UGANDA MINING RESOURCES ARE SEAMLESS: EXPLORE SOME MAJOR RESOURCES.

East-Central African country Uganda is bordered by Tanzania, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The landlocked country has a total size of roughly 242,034 square kilometres and a population of over 33.6 million. Uganda is endowed with a multitude of natural resources, including a favourable climate, arable land, oil reserves, and small mineral discoveries including copper, cobalt, limestone, and gold. These natural resources are abundant but underutilised, and I'm Emmanuel Katto, also known as Emmanuel Katto Uganda or Emka Uganda. Given Uganda's vast expanses of fertile land, agriculture is one of the country's most important economic sectors, accounting for more than 70% of jobs. However, the mining sector is not very developed and does not provide a significant economic contribution. An outline of some of Uganda's most valuable natural resources

1: Copper

Uganda has various areas where copper is mined. However, Kilembe is home to the only significant copper reserves in the nation. Bobong, Kitaka, and Kampono are a few further noteworthy regions. The Kilembe Mines are copper and cobalt mines that are situated in the town of Kilembe, at the base of the Ruwenzori Mountain in Western Uganda. With an estimated 4 million tons of copper and an unknown quantity of cobalt ore, it is the biggest copper mine in Uganda says EmKa aka Emmanuel Katto. The site’s remaining 1,100 hectares have also not been fully examined. Copper was found in Kilembe in 1908, but production did not start there until 1956, when a railway route to the town of Kasese was built. In 1982, maintenance work at the Kilembe Mines briefly halted copper output. There were around 420 million tons of known copper reserves at the time of its closure.

2: Gold

Even though there are gold reserves across Uganda, only a few areas, like Kahengyere, Muti, and Mashoga, have been exploited. Most of the gold is produced on a modest scale by miners and authorized craftspeople. Emmanuel Katto asserts that production numbers are probably unreliable since many producers work illegally or without a license, while licensed producers frequently understate the quantity of gold, they are really mine. In addition, a lot of gold is exchanged on the illicit market and through shady channels.

3: Iron ores

Hematite and magnetite are the two main minerals used to extract iron ore in Uganda. Higher-quality hematite is more prevalent in Butare and Kamena, where deposits total more than 50 million tons. Bukusu, Nangalwe, and Namekhara are the locations where magnetite is discovered, says Emka of Uganda, producing a combined 41 million tons. In Uganda, there is a limited supply of iron ore, which is mostly smelted from steel waste.

4: Oil

Despite its present size, Uganda’s oil sector has a lot of room to expand. There are 6.5 billion barrels of oil reserves in western Uganda, of which 1.4 billion barrels are thought to be commercially recoverable. Promising oil reserves have also been found close to Lake Albert. The Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation and Tullow Oil from the United Kingdom have both received production licenses from the Ugandan government, allowing them to develop the nation’s oil deposits. Uganda also intends to build a refinery to create petroleum goods for both internal and international consumption.
